William Eats a Pound of Chocolate, Final video project
For this project, I ended up mostly using footage I had already shot, and just putting it together and editing it in a new way. In line with McLuhan's ideas, I did not want to represent only what literally occurred when I was videoing, but I wanted to use the medium of video to more so convey what it felt like, I wanted the viewer to feel like they were in that time and space. Simultaneously, I wanted to manipulate the sense of time and place felt by the viewer; it is hard to tell where the video was shot and beyond just literally slowing down some moments and sounds, to me at least, the video feels much longer than it is because of the nature of its content.
Stylistically, for the editing and sound, I drew heavily from David Lynch and ytp-style edited videos on youtube and other social media platforms
